Summer update from Mike

Summers in Oregon's Willamette Valley are wonderful and full of celebrations! These community events provide the perfect opportunity to connect with people, watching families enjoy the unique character of the area and listening to the concerns they have.

I've been spending a lot of time getting out to meet with people in the numerous communities throughout this wide-ranging district: from Jefferson to Independence, and from Salem to the McMinnville area.  Below are some pictures from recent events:

Along with campaigning, I have continued my work as State Representative to bring some accountability to our government. Our state has been run by one party for decades and that has led to ever-increasing spending with little oversight. The best known example is the failed Cover Oregon project which wasted more than 300 million tax dollars. I have found that this is just the tip of the iceberg.

Three of the legislative committees I serve on put me in a key position to investigate the various million and even billion dollar projects that taxpayers fund: the Sub-Committee On Transportation and Economic Development, the Joint Committee On Information Management and Technology, and the Committee On Consumer Protection and Government Effectiveness.

I'll have more details about some of this work in the near future.
